Jess Budin

Jess is an emerging comedic writer, performer and other such nouns.

During their undergraduate studies, they volunteered with RMITV Studios/Channel 31, writing for shows like “Offbeat”, “The Leak”, and “Mainland Tonight”, before going on to serve as the secretary of the board between 2022-2023. Jess, ever the over-achiever in the pursuit of serotonin, has co-written two award-winning short films for the 48-Hour Film Project in 2017 and 2019, participated in the first Pitch iView contest at Melbourne WebFest, and Round One of VicScreen’s Originate program in 2021.

Jess produced and hosted the “Bite Your Thumb!” podcast during the 2020 lockdown and hopes to return to podcasting shortly as they know what the heck they’re doing now. In 2023, they were awarded the Women in Comedy scholarship to study sketch comedy at The Improv Conspiracy. It gave them the tools to join this team and write and perform in the 70th anniversary Law Revue at the Comedy Republic.

When Jess is not slaving away over their TV pilot at the Victorian College of the Arts, they dust their record collection, play at least another 600 hours of Stardew Valley and dissociate whilst staring at clouds.
