Acting for Improv

Defrost Festival drop-in workshops from local legends and out-of-town superstars

This workshop will focus on committing to the acting in improv scenes to heighten the comedy and performance in scenework. The workshop focuses on fundamentals of acting such as creating and developing a character, accessing truthful emotions, status and relationship in a scene and physical commitment, all leading to more connected performances and stronger scene work.

Instructor Profile

Amy Ruffle

Amy Ruffle is an actor and comedian best known as an ensemble member on Ch 10’s Thank God You’re Here and as Sirena on the NETFLIX series Mako Mermaids. She was recently seen in ABC’s Urvi Went To An All Girls School and performs weekly in Something Good, the house improv show at the Comedy Republic theatre in Melbourne. Amy studied at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles under teaches such as Will Hines, Tara Copeland and Casey Feigh.
