Our performance track levels are changing from Term 5B onwards. The Harold is demystified and a brand new exciting level emerges.
Here's a video if you hate reading: https://youtu.be/OH8bLin9h48
Beginning in term 5B, we are doing away with old structure of splitting the Harold over two levels.
In Term 5b 2024, Performance 1, previously "The Harold: Scene Work" will be "World Building" and in Term 1a 2025, Performance 2, previously "The Harold: Group Work" will become simply "The Harold"
World Building will be focused on organic "first beat style" scene work and premise "second beat style" scene work and creating a show that is connected, with characters and relationships that get explored over a ~20 minute show.
The Harold will build upon those skills and add in the Harold structure and requisite group games and opening elements.
These two levels will be complimentary to each other, and Performance 1 will scaffold wonderfully to Performance 2. The exciting part for us, is that de-coupling the essential scene work sills and philosophies required for a great long form show from the rigamarole of the Harold form will keep students focussed on the right things rather than obsessing over the form.
Because as many of you have heard me say, all formats live and die on your ability to do great scene work within them.
Note: These changes do not alter your eligibility for any level. If you have taken the old Performance 1 (the Harold: Scene Work), you will still be eligible for the new Performance 2.
