Save the date and ensure eligibility for our annual improv house team auditions next February

We hold annual auditions every February for our weekly house shows Harold Night and F#*k This, I Quit.

If you're a community member who is interested in our 2025 auditions, please pencil in weekend late mornings and early afternoons in February. Specific dates and times will be announced in the coming months.

These auditions have strict prerequisites – you'll need to have demonstrated experience with the relevant improv formats before being allowed to sign up for an audition slot. If you miss the boat, you'll likely be waiting for a full calendar year before your next opportunity.

To audition for Harold Night you'll need to have passed our Performance 2: The Harold – Group Work course level (aka our old Improv Level 5) before being able to sign up.

To audition for FTIQ – you'll need to have taken our Advanced Play Premise Improv Elective. We'll be offering it in Term 6A, so stay tuned and possibly sign up for alerts for Advanced Play Electives

In terms of the scheduling maths of gaining eligibility, we only have a few more 8-week course intakes remaining for the year:

  • Term 5A starts this coming week and finishes mid-October

  • Term 5B starts mid-September and finishes mid-November

  • Term 6A starts mid-October and finishes mid-December

We are rethinking our approach to Term 6B this year, and may prioritise unique seasonal 4-week classes that complete before Christmas, instead of our usual 8-week classes that wrap around the holiday period.

While Term 1A begins in January, the auditions will already have taken place before classes wrap up and are graded. If we do run a Harold Group Work class during that term, access to auditions may be entirely up to your instructor's discretion.

We do have an exemption process which allows experienced improvisers from other compatible theatres to audition for us without having taken our classes, based on their performance experience. If you are currently one of our Melbourne-based improv students, this is likely not relevant to your situation.
