You don’t need to be a singer to perform in a musical, and you don’t need to be a freestyle rapper to create speedy rhymes on the spot!

Improvised musicals are fast becoming a fan favourite at The Improv Conspiracy, and it’s easy to see why. Watching a team make up songs and dances on the spot is highly impressive to any audience, but all the performers will tell you "it's easier than it looks!"

Our Advanced Play tier Improvised Musical workshop is seeing sell out classes and repeat sign ups. While that flagship course is primarily based on creating a Musical Harold, and only available to Performance 3 graduates, we are now launching a musical workshop open to a much wider pool of our cohort

This class focuses on creating improvised songs within scenes. No full formats and longform narratives to worry about, just jumping in and making up songs on the spot.

This class will teach you to make up solo songs and duets that are joyful, meaningful and funny!

Learn about:

• Basic song structures to guide your lyrical choices
• The relationship between the musician and the performer
• Simple song elements such as timing, rhyme and repetition
• Common song styles in musicals and how to incorporate them
• Using emotion to make your songs engaging

Even if improvised musicals aren’t your goal, this class will help your improv through:

• Improved confidence on stage
• Committing to ideas even when you don’t know what’s next
• Listening and staying present 
• Utilising character relationships and Point of View to inform choices
• Following the fun

No singing experience or musical knowledge required.
